WOW! Colombo is fast developing these days in terms of mall choice. We now have a number of places to look forward to apart from old faves Majestic City and Liberty Plaza. With the new kids on the block : Colombo City Centre and Marino Mall joining the Colombo mall culture and the much hyped up One Galle Face mall which opened on 8th November amidst much fanfare, we are simply spoilt for choice now aren’t we?!! Cinnamon Life Colombo by John Keells Properties is also in the middle of completing a state of the art mall which will take Colombo by storm! The younger generations are getting to experience the best in terms of cinema at CCC’s Dolby stereo sound Cineplex and the diverse Food Atrium, which has everything from Japanese cuisine to good old MacDonalds; while Marino Mall has a hi fi VR entertainment zone with 9D cinema!
But One Galle Face is set to take over the scene as it is now officially the LARGEST MALL in Sri Lanka with seven levels! We are all thrilled with their new PVR Cinema and the Food Studio with outlets ranging from good old KFC to Manhattan Fish Market. WAFL Sri Lanka is also becoming fast popular with their wide range of waffle treats. The franchise is quite big in Europe already and they are set to create waffle frenzy in Colombo! The opening day saw everyone queuing up for a bite!! Not to mention that fantastic view of the ocean from the rooftop with a new nightclub set to open soon!! When all is said and done, there are those who still prefer the cosy and ever popular Majestic City in Colombo 04, which recently renovated the Food Arcade, as it’s just so familiar and less pricey! Of course, the cinema still remains popular especially with their fab weekday promos from Monday to Thursday offering half rate tickets as low as 300 bucks! Liberty Plaza is probably the oldest shopping mall and recently underwent a revamp with the New Wing. Uptown Kandy is definitely a must visit fashion store along with the Food Court and Coffee Bean. When it comes to atmosphere, CCC is becoming quite trendy with the fashionable set because of its branded shops, a cool Food Atrium coupled with a gorgeous view of the Beria Lake and most of all, its size!! Playtrix Sports Bar & Café recently moved here so that has added to its popularity with absolutely delicious Executive Lunches going at Rs 390 for a nicely arranged tray of curries, veggies and- from pork to fish they have got it !! We cannot forget an established name in Sri Lanka, John Keells Properties, the guys behind the Cinnamon hotel chain, who are set to introduce the luxurious and futuristic Cinnamon Life to Colombo! The mall will cover five levels of shopping heaven with a fantastic choice of retail outlets, fine dining, and entertainment. We will get to see the best of international and local entertainers in music, theatre and the performing arts – so this will definitely be the place for those who love the finer things in life! These are the guys who brought the Clairvoyants Live in Sri Lanka and the Mamma Mia musical to our shores – so we are super excited for Cinnamon Life to open with a bang! So we have more things to look forward to in Colombo and it’s bound to change our lives – we have never had so much choice before! But we are ecstatic for the new additions to the mall scene in Colombo, as we now have a mall that will suit our mood, occasion, location and budget! Colombo city is set to undergo a massive transformation in the near future and we are just so excited for these new developments. It’s set to put Colombo on the map for sure as tourists also begin to explore what we have on offer!!
